The Next Generation of Meteorological Measurements Systems
MET4 and Fan-Aspirated MET4A

  Background
Paroscientific pioneered Meteorological Measurement Systems over 10 years ago with the introduction of the MET3 and fan-aspirated MET3A.  Scientists and government organizations across the world have used these Meteorological Measurement Systems in demanding applications such as atmospheric wave and turbulence detectors, marine data buoys, altimeter-setting indicators and shipboard weather observation. In addition they have also been installed in automated surface observation systems that estimate atmospheric precipitable water vapor (PWV) and in GPS (Global Positioning System) geodetic networks for tectonic research. These products are widely used by SuomiNET and International GPS System (IGS) participants.
  NEW MET4 and Fan-Aspirated MET4A

MET4

The MET4 and MET4A are the next generation Paroscientific Meteorological Measurement Systems.  These new instruments incorporate several performance enhancements and features that are a direct result of field experience and inputs from our customers.  

The MET4 and MET4A utilize the same high performance Digiquartz® Barometric Pressure Transducer. This barometer has long been recognized as the field standard by the National Weather Service, FAA, Government & Meteorological Institutes and Research Institutes worldwide

Fan-Aspirated MET4A

  
The major enhancements and features in the MET4 and MET4A include:

ü      Improved field serviceability-New high reliability temperature and humidity probe that is field replaceable.  In addition, Paroscientific has provided a procedure to perform a verification of barometer accuracy in the field.  Combined, these reduce instrument downtime and the need to return the equipment to Paroscientific for service.

ü      MET4A fan has increased air flow for greater protection against harsh environments. A field replacement kit is available.

ü      RS-232 and RS-485 bi-directional interface.

ü      Optional Barometric Functions including field pressure, station pressure, altimeter setting, sea-level pressure, density altitude, pressure altitude, QNH & QFE and WMO pressure tendency codes.

ü      Optional Internal Data Logger capable of storing over 200,000 high resolution time stamped, pressure, temperature and humidity records.

ü      New environmental enclosures and marine paint for both the MET4 and MET4A.

ü      “DigiPort” High Performance Pressure Port is now featured on the MET4.

ü     Compatible with Model 715 Remote LCD Display.

ü      Both the MET4 and MET4A are CE compliant.

 

The pressure resolution of the MET4/4A is better than 1 microbar with a total accuracy of better than ± 0.08 hPa over the extended barometric range of 500 to 1100hPa.
Temperature resolution is 0.01 degrees C with a total accuracy of better than ± 0.5 degrees C for the MET4 and ± 0.2 degrees C for the MET4A. Relative humidity performance is better than ± 2% at 25 degrees C.

The MET4 and MET4A have the same world class warranty as other Paroscientific barometric products.  The Digiquartz barometer has a 3-year stability warranty of better than 0.1 hPa per year and also includes a limited 5-year warranty with the first 2-years covered at 100%.  The MET4/4A system has a limited one-year warranty.
